Summary

The Business Development Associate (BDA) is a key member of Nova’s Operations team, responsible for generating, qualifying, and analyzing new business opportunities. This role focuses on prospecting, outreach, lead qualification, and data-driven analysis to optimize the lead generation process. The BDA will leverage HubSpot and other tools to track, analyze, and refine outreach efforts, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process. By collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations, the BDA will play a crucial role in driving Nova's revenue growth, using insights to maintain a steady pipeline of qualified leads for the sales team.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting:

  • Research digital ad agencies, publishers, technology platforms, retail media networks, and other potential Nova partners to:
  • Document key features of their businesses
  • Identify their key customers
  • Determine the target ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) within each organization
  • Build out a list of potential contacts
  • Tools to use: Seller Crowd, Apollo, industry research tools (e.g., Digiday, AdExchanger), Hubspot
  • Segment prospects into priority tiers based on predetermined criteria, including size of opportunity and fit
  • Build Prospect lists in Hubspot, supplemented by prospect data from research

Lead Generation:

  • Ensure we have a clear repository of sales materials to be used by the entire sales team
  • Manage all efforts related to converting prospects into leads. Efforts include:
  • Email:
  • Defining key outreach campaigns working with the Sales & Marketing teams
  • Building email lists within Hubspot and scrubbing data to ensure accuracy and integrity of these lists   
  • Delivering email campaigns, setting up automations and sequences, and tracking key metrics such as bounce rates, open rates, and clickthroughs
  • Website:
  • Tracking website usage metrics and passing key activity and leads to the Sales team
  • Build targeted landing pages as defined

Lead Qualification:

  • Assess and qualify leads based on predetermined criteria (fit for Nova’s services, etc.)
  • Track lead engagement in Hubspot and identify prospects ready for sales team follow-up
  • Once prospects are qualified, pass them to the sales team with relevant context and engagement history in Hubspot

Performance Reporting:

  • Track and report on outreach success, lead conversion rates, and campaign performance using Hubspot’s analytics tools

Sales Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure smooth transition of leads and provide insights on prospect engagement
  • Help improve lead qualification criteria with feedback from the sales team

Sales Team Support:

  • Collaborate with the sales team to create and refine materials that support their outreach, including case studies, proposals, demos, and other resources
  • Gather feedback from the sales team to continuously improve marketing collateral based on campaign insights

    Ideal Candidate

    Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field

    Experience: 2-3 years of experience in business development, data analysis, or a research-focused role, including hands-on experience with Hubspot or other CRM tools for managing outreach campaigns and tracking performance, is preferred

    Location:
    This is a remote position, though the ideal candidate will be located in or around the Greater Toronto Area for occasional in-person collaboration

    Highly Organized: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and stay on top of details in a fast-paced environment

    Data-Driven: Comfortable using Hubspot (or other CRM tools) to track, analyze, and optimize outreach and lead generation efforts

    Strong Communicator: Skilled at crafting personalized, compelling outreach messages and establishing rapport with prospects

    Collaborative Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to drive business growth

    Analytical & Tech-Savvy: Analytical mindset with experience using tools like Apollo, Seller Crowd, and digital marketing platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, website analytics) to track and optimize campaigns
